Never to Late to Start Healthy Eating

If you currently do not eat a healthy diet, it can be difficult to start such a plan. However, healthy eating is important for maintaining bodily function and living a disease-free life. If you struggle with healthy eating, than you know that breaking unhealthy habits can be the most difficult part of the process. However, if you truly want to live the best lifestyle possible, it is important to follow tips in order to start eating a more healthy diet. So…

A good beginning when you want to start eating more healthily is to rid you home of all foods that do not fall into healthy categories. Keep junk foods and beverages out of your house so that you will not be tempted to snack during the day. If you’re worried about getting hungry, keep healthy snacks like carrot sticks, yogurt, fresh fruit, or whole-wheat crackers on hand. If you find that you just cannot bear to toss out the sweets, try keeping something tiny on hand, like chocolate chips. Eating a few of these won’t ruin your diet but will also give you that small sugary fix you crave.

Another good step to healthy eating is when you are first starting the process take a few moments to learn about what foods are also the healthiest for you and how they work in your body. Most people understand that fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy products are good for you, but few people understand why. The key is learning about nutrients. When you understand how specific nutrients work in the body, you will be more likely to make those healthy choices for your body. Knowledge really is power!

When detoxifying yourself to prepare for a new healthy diet, you should also take into account your schedule for meals. If you often eat in a hurry and at odd times of the day, you are probably not getting the best foods possible. Plan ahead! Instead of grabbing a fast food lunch, take a packed lunch to work, complete with some healthy fresh vegetables. Plan ahead for healthy meals in the evening by cooking the day before that is if you have very little time to cook when you get home every night.

Start with small steps. Even if you only replace one bad habit a day with a glass of water, you can really improve your calorie intake. If you eat fast food every day for lunch, try replacing some of the days with healthy food. When you start by taking small steps, it does not seem like you are cutting out all of the foods you love and you can take your time to learn about the healthy foods which you will come to love equally as well.

I am also a vegetarian :) . I use to be your exact weight and now I'm 102. Thats good your already are exercising. I lost 30 pounds and I use to be just like you with the late night binges. Now I just don't allow myself to get hungry so I eat often which works for me. Some things that I like to eat are:
    Breakfast:
Plain Old Fashioned Oats with Banana and Peanut Butter or Apple and Cinamon
Plain Greek Yogurt sweetened with Stevia then add Rasberries and Ground Flax Seeds
    Lunch and Dinner:
Beans on a Salad such as Lentils, Black Beans etc.
    Quionna
    Tofu Stir Fry
Veggie burger on whole wheat bun or english muffin.
    Spagetti or butternut squash.
    Sweet Potatoes
    Portabella Mushroom Sandwiches
    Snacks:
Celery with Peanut Butter (2 tbs.)
Handful of Almonds (We vegetarians need healthy fats)
Really being a vegetarian is amazing and fun to experiment with. Try going to a library or bookstore and getting a good healthy vegetarian cookbook. You would be surprised at how many healthy and tasty recipes there are out there. You workout sounds food. Try to eat 3 meals and 2 100 calorie snacks a day. That works for me my eating times look like this:

    7:00 a.m. Breakfast
10:00 a.m. Snack (usually a piece of fresh fruit)
    1:00 p.m. Lunch
4:00 p.m. Celery with Peanut butter or 14 raw almonds
    7:00 p.m. Dinner

Then I am full and do not eat for the rest of the night! Good Luck :)

A great way to stay on a healthy diet or to exercise and stick with it is to do it with a friend. You each become each others support and you can motivate each other while working towards similar or different goals. If this isn't an option for you, then have someone check up on you, say with a phone call or something. They can ask what you've eaten today and what kind of physical activity you've been doing. Remember, having another persons attention on something can be a great help, but make sure you are exercising and dieting with someone you feel comfortable with. Setting similar goals might lead to unhealthy competition, so make the goals personal and separate, while using the same methods to reach them. Good luck!

It is commendable that someone with a slender figure is concerned about her health. Sometimes I wonder if people realize that thinness is not synonomous to go health. Ehat I reccommend is let your daughter be your guide. You feed her healthy? Eat the same things that you feed her. Eat atleast 3 times. Meat, chicken, fish etc can get expensive but they are always on sell. Seek out meat sales at various grocery stores. Shop the produce aisles and pick up new fruits and veggies that you have never tried. Look on the internet for new recipes. Most importantly, have fun.
